LAEF accepts nominations and selects a King and/or Queen
to honor and serve as the LAEF royal ambassador for the year -
congratulations to our 2024 royals!

LAEF takes great pride in honoring Randy and Diana Hill as our 2024 King and Queen due to their outstanding leadership of LAEF and their dedicated volunteerism on behalf of the youth in our community.

The Hills relocated to Los Alamitos in 1992 and have been dedicated members of the community ever since. They are the proud parents of two sons, both of whom are Griffin graduates. During their children’s formative years, as Ross and Austin attended Rossmoor Elementary School and Oak Middle School, Randy Hill served as a coach for Los Al Youth Baseball and was a board member for an impressive 11 years. He also generously coached for AYSO, NJB, and FNL. Diana Hill was an active member of the PTA and held the role of Chair for Rossmoor’s annual carnival for multiple years.

As their sons progressed to Los Alamitos High School, Randy and Diana’s volunteerism reached new heights. They played pivotal roles in the Football Booster from 2002 to 2008 and even served as Co-Presidents from 2005 to 2006. Randy further contributed to the community as a board member of the Griffin Football Foundation from 2010 to the present day, and he served as the LAHS Baseball Booster’s Treasurer in 2003. Diana, on the other hand, made a significant impact as the Event Co-Chair for “Taste For Los Al” from its inception in 2000.

In 2007, Diana was asked to be the Co-President of LAEF by then-superintendent Carol Hart. Her mandate was to expand fundraising and establish after-school and summer programs. Diana continued her leadership journey as President in 2008-2009 and was instrumental in introducing LAEF’s first summer classes in 2009 and laying the groundwork for the inaugural Summer Enrichment Institute in 2010.

During this time, Randy and Diana also became strong supporters of the Measure K school bond campaign, with Diana serving as the campaign’s Chair. Once the bond passed, both of them served (although separately) on the Bond Oversight Committee through 2013.  In 2010, Diana was elected as a member-at-large of the Los Alamitos USD Board of Education and continues to serve as the Trustee for Area 3.

Randy joined the LAEF Board of Directors as Vice President in 2009 and assumed the role of President in 2011. His tenure as President lasted until he termed off the board in the Fall of 2015. During this time, Randy provided crucial leadership for LAEF, becoming a recognizable face in the community, and tirelessly attending events to promote and inform. His proudest achievement was shifting the board culture to find innovative, positive solutions and his role in hiring and coaching LAEF’s professional staff.

Randy and Diana have been avid donors, business sponsors, and auction item contributors to LAEF since the 2013 inception of the King & Queen of Hearts campaign, now known as Fundraising February for Los Al Kids. Diana joined our Royal Court in 2016 and raised an impressive $15,800 through the competition.

In 2017, Randy was appointed as a Board Member Emeritus for LAEF and continues to serve in this capacity. Randy and Diana are also Founding Members of the Los Al Leadership Circle, LAEF’s major donor group, and have been dedicated annual donors since 2018.

Since 2019, Randy has served as a Board Member for St. Isadore’s Historical Plaza and is a member of the Traffic Commission for the City of Los Alamitos. He is an active member of the Los Al/Seal Beach Rotary Club, where he holds the role of Youth Chair, advising the Interact Clubs at LAHS and Cypress High.

Diana served on the Board of Directors for Pathways to Independence for 14 years before taking on the staff role of Executive Director in March of 2022. Her previous professional experience was in real estate, where she most recently held the position of Director of Real Estate Education. Randy has been a realtor with First Team for 15 years. Their greatest joy comes from being loving grandparents to their four beautiful grandchildren.
