What They Are Saying About Us

With LAEF’s support, over 99% of Los Alamitos Unified students graduate from high school. Even more exceptional, nearly 70% of our students meet all CSU/UC entrance requirements, and this percentage continues to climb every year! I am proud to serve as an active Advisor to LAEF, and LAUSD is committed to continue to partner with LAEF for the success of all children within our district.

While at Weaver Elementary School, I took many LAEF after-school enrichment classes including Mandarin Chinese, Creative Writing and Spanish. Being exposed to other languages was amazing and has helped me feel more confident in my high school language classes. While attending Oak Middle School, I took many LAEF Robotics classes with Ms. Martin. These classes taught me how fun it is to build robots, and now I am in an engineering class at LAHS. I also participated in the LAEF STEAM Fairs and district-wide STEAM Showcases. Over the summers, I took many LAEF sponsored Music Camps and developed many friendships through a shared love of music. Now, I am a sophomore at LAHS. In January, I was able to perform in the London New Year’s Day Parade with the Marching Band thanks to LAEF’s generous donation of $10,000. I’m definitely looking forward to LAEF’s free SAT Prep classes next year! Thank you to all the generous LAEF donors for supporting me and enhancing educational excellence!

Our family loves LAEF! There are so many great programs offered for all kids, from little to big. Through our years in the Los Alamitos Unified School District, our three children have taken advantage of many of LAEF's different classes and workshops. The After School Enrichment programs were great for them to focus on subjects they already knew they loved, like art and theater, but also to try new things, like sign language, robotics and jiu jitsu. It gave my sons and my daughter a chance to explore subjects they loved that only get touched on during their academic day. The Summer Enrichment Institute was a great option for our kids to help them get prepared for the next school year, while having fun and making friends in the process. The special weekend programs and summer camps, like Young Americans, X-cite camps, and the sports camps, have provided structure for the kids as they focus more on their activities of choice, and are consistently there for them year after year. We’ve also loved the STEAM workshops at the elementary and middle schools. I don’t think my kids would have participated in the STEAM Fair without the support provided through those free (!) workshops. As my kids are getting older, I am looking forward to taking advantage of other programs and classes, like Driver’s Education and SAT Prep. LAEF has been there for our family all the way from our elementary years, through the middle school years, and into the high school years. I know I can always count on LAEF to support the learning needs of my kids, whatever their ages. Thank you, LAEF, and keep up the great work! We can’t wait to see what you come up with next.

I always look forward to teaching for LAEF's summer enrichment program. Over the years I've taught coding, STEAM, and digital story telling classes to eager elementary school students. I love that students from all of our district's elementary schools have the opportunity to collaborate and create new friendships. As a teacher, I am grateful for the opportunity to teach subjects that reflect my passions. The program is well organized and designed around providing opportunities for students to discover new interests, strengthen academics, and have a little summer fun! LAEF offers a wide variety of classes in the areas of academics, athletics, and the arts. There’s something for everyone!
