LAEF is so much more than after-school and summer enrichment classes!
We provide so many Student Services across our district – thanks to donor support!
LAEF Student Services:
- STEAM fairs on school campuses annually through a $1000 stipend to the coordinating staff member and $350 for expenses
- $702,175 to district schools for Innovation/STEAM grants since 2016
- Free Elementary World Language classes
- $640,000 since 2017 to build, furnish and stock Well Spaces district-wide and support the salaries of Los Alamitos Unified’s mental health counselors
- Free Mental Health groups for middle school students
- $125,000 invested in District facilities this school year with $1,245,000 contributed since 2011
- Funding for 1:1 aides for students with special needs
- Program scholarships for students of families in need – over $25,000 awarded in program scholarships every year
- Free workshops for College Counseling support
- Enrichment classes free-of-charge for students that qualify for the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP).
- LAEF sponsors the annual Griffriends event, which provide team games and luncheons for K-12 children with special needs and high school athletes. Over $20,400 has been donated to date.
- LAEF partners with Project SEEK at McGaugh Elementary and Friends of Rossmoor at Rossmoor Elementary to provide additional instruction to all students during the school day. (Art Lab at McGaugh and STEM Lab at Rossmoor)
- Past Support of the Arts – $2,000 to the LAHS Orchestra to help fund participation in the Los Angeles International Music Festival at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. $10,000 to the LAHS Marching Band to support their appearance in the 2018 New Year’s Day Parade in London, England! $2640 to send LAHS’ Show Choir Advanced Choir Student Leadership Team to the Disney Youth Education Series.
- Teacher of the Year dinner and awards ceremony honoring one teacher from each Los Al school each spring
- Support of STEAM student groups – LAHS Robotics Team and LAHS Hydrogen Endurance Racing Team
