Thank you for considering a contribution to LAEF in memory of robert "bob" wilkoff.

It is with great sadness we share the passing of Los Alamitos High School’s teaching legend Robert “Bob” Wilkoff. A quick wit always at the ready to enlighten with his wisdom but who would not hold back in sharing the truth that many did not have the courage to share and many did not want to hear. Longtime chairman for the Social Studies department and Teacher of the Year for LAUSD,  Bob began his tenure with Los Alamitos USD as a History Teacher at Oak in 1963 and then transferred to Los Alamitos High School in 1968.

During his teaching career, Bob was very involved with the politics of education at not only the local level but also at state and national.  To that end, he worked personally on the District unification and with school-board elections, always with the end of improving education for students.  He also was a member of the District’s negotiating team for a number of years and spoke there clearly and succinctly to the issues he saw teachers involved with.

He retired in 2001 after thirty-eight years of dedicated service. He leaves a legacy of countless minds and souls to fight for what is right and to think of more than just yourselves in this world. Please consider contributing to the scholarship in his name: his wife Ruth, daughters Laura and Michelle, and a multitude of lives who were lucky to call him teacher, thank you.
