Janine Ingram recently moved to Seal Beach, where both her parents and her brother’s family have lived for years. She holds a BA in Psychology from UCI and a MA Developmental Psychology/Education from the University of Maryland, and has enjoyed a successful 23 year career as a non-profit executive and consultant.
Janine worked with homeless and at-risk youth leading the YWCA of Central Orange County, HomeAid America and later OC Partnership, where she helped secure $25,000,000 in federal housing and shelter service funds. She also co-authored groundbreaking research on motel families, which led to public policies adopted by the City of Anaheim for years.
In 2005, Janine took over leadership of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) of OCIE where she raised a chapter record $19 million dollars over 4 years. After leaving LLS, she assisted several organizations, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, before starting a consulting firm, SongBird Services, to help smaller non-profits flourish. It was in this capacity Janine joined LAEF in February 2012 and was hired as Executive Director in August 2012.
Blessed with the opportunity to work with youth most of her career, Janine lives by the mantra that it means nothing to “save the world’s children and lose your own.” Of all her accomplishments, Janine is most proud of her teenage sons Kyle and Gage. She taught them everything they know about basketball….just ask her!
A quote from Janine:
“I am excited and honored to lead LAEF through such an exciting time in its history. We are truly experiencing resurgence! Every day brings LAEF incredible new opportunities, partners and ideas, all of which will make the Los Alamitos Unified School District an even more amazing place for students to learn and thrive. This is an awesome community and I am thrilled to make it my home.”
